Flights from the UK have been affected by global positioning system (GPS) disruptions in the region believed to be caused by Russia, The Sun reports.

Based on an analysis of records by GPSJAM.org, The Sun reports that there have been several thousand navigation errors since August last year, including 2,300 for Ryanair and almost 1,400 for Wizz Air. British Airways and easyJet are also experiencing GPS glitches, albeit less frequently. scale – only 82 and 4 cases, respectively.

The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority says jamming is often linked to military operations, but that does not mean commercial aircraft are directly targeted.

“GPS jamming does not directly affect the aircraft’s navigation, and while it is a known problem, it does not mean that the aircraft is being jammed on purpose,” explains Glenn Bradley, the authority’s flight operations manager.

Since the Russian invasion of Ukraine, especially in the Kalingrad region, problems with GPS navigation have been regularly reported in Europe. We remind you that in March it was reported that Russia may have jammed the signal of British Defense Minister Grant Shapp’s plane flying near Kalingrad.
