Slovakian ice hockey players defeated Norway with a score of 11:1 (5:1, 3:0, 3:0) in Espoo.

Slovakia, Latvia and Norway finished the subgroup tournament with three points each. The balance of wins and losses in mutual matches was the same, but the ratio of scored and lost goals allowed the Slovaks to win the third place (14:4), the Latvians to the fourth position (8:8), leaving the Norwegians in the fifth place (6:14).

The Latvian national team’s opponents in the quarter-finals will be Canadians.

In the first game on Thursday, the Latvians lost 1:3 to the hosts Finland, on Friday they beat their peers from Slovakia with 5:3, on Sunday they suffered defeat against the Americans with 1:7, and on Monday they recognized the superiority of Norway with 3:5.

The quarter-final matches of the World Championship will take place on May 2, the semi-finals on May 4, and the medal winners will be determined on May 5.

In the second game of Group A on Tuesday, USA defeated Finland 9-4 (1-0, 5-3, 3-1).

Six (3+3) performance points were collected by James Hagens, three by Teddy Staiga (3+0), Brody Zimmer (1+2) and Cole Hutson (0+3).

For Finland, Mitja Jokinen scored three (1+2) points, while Tuomas Suoniemi scored two goals.

The first place was taken by the USA with 12 points scored in four games, nine points were collected by Finland, and three points each by Slovakia, Latvia and Norway, ranking in this order.
