As in the Saeima, a certain number of young people from each region of Latvia are elected to this organization. Many are here for the first time, and if you compare it to the commotion that occurs when parliamentarians meet here, this time before the session it is almost gravely silent.
“I’ve never been to the Saeima, today is my first day, so I’m a little afraid that I should speak publicly, but I think everything will be fine,” said Aleksandrs Iļjins, a student of Riga’s 89th secondary school.
The work schedule for young people is quite tight – participation in the meetings of four commissions is planned, where the content of education, the national defense service, artificial intelligence and other topics suggested by the young people must be discussed.
Young people say that this is a good opportunity to try their hand at the work of a deputy, but outside of today, cooperation with the parliament is rare. Participation in daily meetings takes place only if invited by the chairman of the commission.
Evaluating the recent political scandals, young people do not hide it – for many, it stifles any desire to get involved in the formation of the state and the representation of society’s rights.

So that the youth’s proposals prepared today do not evaporate, this year for the first time the ideas presented by the deputies will be held at the committee meetings in June.
