On the weekend of May 11 and 12, Latvian Plant Days will be held in Jelgava, according to information on the municipality’s website.

Planting days will be held in Hercoga Jēkab Square, in the square behind the Jelgava House of Culture, as well as in Krišjāņa Barona Street. At the event, you will be able to meet around 200 traders – plant growers, artisans and food producers, who will welcome visitors with a diverse offer for gardening and maintenance, as well as for everyday life.

On Saturday, the Planting Day will take place from 9 am to 4 pm, and on Sunday – from 9 am to 2 pm.

Visitors will have the opportunity to buy various fruit and berry trees, rushes, decorative trees and shrubs, summer flowers and perennials, herbs, medicinal plants and cereals. Again this year, traders will provide a wide range of hydrangeas, roses, peonies and rhododendrons.

The offer will also include more exotic vegetable and plant seedlings, such as watermelon, melon, passion fruit, pepino or melon pear, eucalyptus and passionflower seedlings.

Those interested will also be able to purchase garden equipment and machinery, work clothes, various handicrafts, garden decorations, ceramics, as well as small forms of landscape architecture.

Soil conditioners and pest control products will also be available, including, for example, moss cleaners. There will also be scales and wickerwork, as well as various products – cosmetics, medicinal products and others – made from burdock. On the other hand, gourmets will be able to enrich their Planting Days experience with delicacies from home producers.

On both days of the event, the visitors will also enjoy the cultural program.

Traffic restrictions will be in effect in the city during the event.
