Daugavpils Technical and Industrial Design Center “Engineers Arsenal” invites you to its first anniversary!

--

It has been a year since “Inženiuer Arsenal” opened its doors to its visitors and became the new cultural space of regional importance in Latgale! Retro cars and motorcycles, ancient tools, stories of inventors’ flights of thought… anyone can find their favorite car or metal “horse” here! In the new season, everyone is expecting more and more technical objects, a special Latvian Typewriter Museum exhibition, and a surprise from the largest LEGO enthusiast association “Latlug”!

Over 1.5 million exposure worth EUR

Large exhibitions dedicated to technology are often very mobile, and the Daugavpils Center for Technology and Industrial Design is no exception. During the year, several new retro cars and motorcycles, which were not exhibited in May 2023, were brought to the center. Currently, summing up all the collections of “Engineers in Arsenal”, it can be safely said that their total value already exceeds 1.5 million. euro. Of course, the most expensive exhibits are represented in the Western retro sector, among which shines an Aston Martin (1939), two pre-war Mercedes-Benz 540K, Jaguar XK150 (1959), Jaguar E-type (1973) and other exclusive vehicles.

Top-5 objects in the list and thousands of guests

Although “Inženieru aserenāls” worked for a little more than half a year last year, during this time the center confidently ranks in the list of Daugavpils Top-5 tourist attractions. In 2023, almost 30 thousand people visited the institution. people from 47 countries of the world! More than 220 excursions were conducted since the opening, including special excursions for students within the “Latvian school bags” program. The center of technology and industrial design is gaining momentum and hopes to become one of the top destinations for both local and foreign tourists this year.

Events both in summer and winter

Thanks to the 19th century for the entourage of the building, “Inženiuer aserenāls” has become an attractive venue for thematic events. During the year, the center was involved in several events: Museum Night 2023, Daugavpils city festival (car show), National Guard military equipment exhibition and Santa’s residence. It was attended by hundreds and thousands of people, including children. Thanks to the layout of the building, the inner courtyard of the center is perfectly suited for holding both open and closed events.

Vision and big goals

During the year, the Daugavpils Technology and Industrial Design Center has gained good practical experience and plans to work more and more actively with collectors from all over Latvia, as well as pay more attention to younger generations. Taking into account the specifics of the center and motorized equipment, “Inženieru arsenāls” will add to the exhibitions every year, making changes in each of the four sectors, but without radically changing the narrative of the history of the development of technology in Latvia and the world. Latvia’s pre-war period and the technology of that time are unequivocally in the focus of interest of “Engineering Arsenal”.

The engineering arsenal was built in the Daugavpils fortress exactly 180 years ago, in the spring of 1844. Currently, we can observe that this historical and military building has made a “180-degree turn” and now serves the purposes of promoting technology. “Engineering Arsenal” invites everyone to join the celebration of the center’s first anniversary! 1 year as 1 day!

The heart of the engines beats in the “engineering arsenal”!
