103 Latvian-made drones donated to Ukraine / Article

With the help of dozens of donors, almost 100,000 euros were donated for drones in the first months of this year. Also this year, patron Vilis Vitols, celebrating his 90th anniversary, invited the guests to respond to this call. Guests donated a total of 18 drones.

“I think that any Latvian who is holding one of the biggest parties today and expects gifts from his guests would do well to say – it is better to donate to drones in Ukraine and, on top of that, to drones manufactured in Latvia! This is very important,” said Vītols.

All these drones will soon go to Ukraine to provide hands-on assistance to the Ukrainian Patrol Police Unit, the International Legion and the 3rd Brigade. In modern warfare, the drone is a very important weapon. Just like ammunition – it is always needed and cannot be too much, confirmed Kārlis Krastiņš, a member of the “Support Azov Latvia” foundation:

“That’s just how it seems to us – they are talking about a million drones, and these 103 drones seem to be what they would be against this background. But they are not!

We calculated that with these 103 drones, around 50 million euros worth of Russian equipment could be destroyed. Of course, under certain circumstances, with certain proper planning and also luck.”

The “Support Azov Latvia” fund will also deliver drones to Ukraine themselves.

Artis Siliņš, a member of the foundation, said that the removal of the drones must be coordinated beforehand: “Drones are, as our colleagues laugh, the size of a pizza box. This cargo will be sent by bus. We will also arrange all the documents, because these are also FPV drones. It will be more difficult to remove them here , because FPV drones require a much higher level of coordination.” FPV drones allow the footage of the camera attached to it to be broadcast live to the screens.

The drones are sent with a message – at this time, when Latvia can celebrate the anniversary of the restoration of independence, society and companies will soon regain it for Ukraine as well. By supporting Ukraine, we protect both our freedom and the freedom of Europe, reminded “Ziedot.lv” representative Ilze Ošane: “And we really know that we are getting closer to every donor who enters the “ziedot.lv” portal and donates a drone or to support Ukraine For the restoration of Ukraine’s independence, so to speak, the expulsion of the occupiers and the victory of freedom.”

In general, more than a thousand drones have already been sent to Ukraine with the support of “Ziedot.lv”, but so many drones manufactured in Latvia will be delivered for the first time. Ukrainians will receive them already this month.
