A terrible accident happened on Sunday evening in Lithuania, in the Šilute district. Around 20.30 in the evening, the villagers of Vilkai Kampos suddenly saw a truly frightening sight – a hot air balloon with 7 people in it, blown away by strong gusts of wind. lrytas.lt reports.
Forced by strong gusts of wind, the balloon plummeted, hitting the roof of a house, then another, and snapped two trees.
People fell from the balloon. Witnesses discovered that the first person fell after the first balloon hit the roof of the house.
“After a few tens of meters, the second person fell. The balloon was still flying for a kilometer and the passengers continued to fall. Villagers ran to see if those who fell needed help. It was an incredible sight and the event itself is hard to fathom. Many ambulances rushed to the village, their flashing lights lit up the whole village,” said Mindaugs, a resident of the village.
6 passengers flew in the hot air balloon – among them two minors – and the balloon driver. All were taken to the hospital after the accident.
