The suspects, acting on the assignment of a representative of the Russian military intelligence service GRU, planned to plant bombs in three shopping centers in the capital and in a car parked outside a popular cafe in Kyiv, the investigation found.

The Security Service of Ukraine detained the suspects in a parking lot near the last of the malls where the suspects were planning to plant bombs.

All 15 bombs, which were disguised as food products, were found and neutralized, the Security Service of Ukraine emphasized.

The investigation concluded that the terrorist attacks were coordinated by Russian special service officer Yuriy Sizov. He personally instructed the recruited agents and even recorded video instructions on how to plant the bombs.

Sizov was also responsible for the failed sabotage in February in the Lviv region. The Security Service of Ukraine also took proactive action then and prevented the explosions.
