Ronnie O’Sullivan returns to the Crucible this week with the aim of becoming the record holder for most snooker World Championships won.

He has won the title seven times, a record he holds with Stephen Hendry, but would move clear with an eighth victory should he successfully win the tournament in Sheffield.

O’Sullivan is in fine form having triumphed in the UK Championship and Masters earlier this season and there is the possibility that he can make a clean sweep of snooker’s Triple Crown events if he wins this competition. It would be the first time in his career that O’Sullivan has achieved that feat.

All of that is in the future as he must get through the first round against Jackson Page to begin with. The Welshman has lost both his previous meetings with O’Sullivan but will want to impress on the world stage this week.

Ding Junhui 9-10 Jack Lisowski

Two fine breaks from Lisowski means he notches up 83 points and beats Ding Junhui 10-9 in a first round thriller. That’s a massive win for Lisowski and he held his nerve perfectly in the final frame to cling onto the win.

There’s about an hour to go now until Ronnie O’Sullivan comes onto the stage for his first match. We’ll take you through everything you need to know before then.

Ding Junhui 9-9 Jack Lisowski

A couple of fantastic long pots from Lisowski has enabled him to move up to a 55 point lead with six reds left on the table. It’s not an easy table to clear up and Lisowski is taking his time for the next shot.

One of the reds drops into the bottom right pocket with the cueball spinning back to leave the pink. He rolls that in too and moves 62 ahead with 67 left.

Another red and pink combo follows before Lisowski begins to tidy up the rest of the table. He’s going to win the match now…

Ding Junhui 9-9 Jack Lisowski

The final match from the morning session is just concluding and it’s going down to the final frame. Din Junhui has fought back brilliantly to force a decider against Jack Lisowski, but the Englishman has the first break of the final frame.
