Currently, the European Commission is working on several proposals, including the inclusion of a mandatory requirement for the exchange of vehicle odometer data in all European Union member states, in an effort to limit and eradicate this illegal practice. The CSDD supports the establishment of a uniform regulation in the member states, which would provide the opportunity to enliven the relevant requirements in the regulations and also ensure control, however, calls for a detailed and in-depth evaluation of the various aspects related to this issue. in case of replacing a damaged meter panel or in situations where the odometer reading on the meter panel has reached its technically maximum possible value.

CSDD representatives point out that it is precisely during the import or export of vehicles that manipulation of odometer data is the most common phenomenon, therefore the exchange of data between the countries of the European Union is very essential in order to detect unauthorized behavior when selling a car from one country to another. CSDD currently receives information about vehicles and their mileage history from Estonia, the Netherlands, Slovakia, Belgium and Luxembourg.
