Now it’s iPad’s turn: Europe forces Apple to do it All the changes they made to iOS and iPhone, like alternative app stores, are now coming to iPadOS and therefore the iPad.

Of course, you already know the abbreviation DMA (Digital Market Act) or Digital Markets Act. This new regulation, introduced by the European Union, is responsible for the latest changes that Apple has introduced to the iPhone. Alternative application stores different from the official App Store, new payment methods without using the official Apple channel, or the ability for web browsers to use engines other than Safari These are some of the most important changes we’ve made to iPhone, all of which comply with these new European regulations. Until now, this change only applied to the iPhone (iOS), but in the future, Apple will have to implement it on the iPad (iPadOS) as well, since this operating system is included in the DMA.

Apple has 6 months to make these changes before being penalized for non-compliance. Considering that the road is already paved thanks to the iPhone, it is to be hoped that the American company will not have to pay too much work to include all these modifications in iPadOS, the operating system of the iPad. As if that were not enough, all the changes that have already been added to the iPhone are being reviewed by the European Commission, which not too happy with the way Apple has adopted the new rules, so the iPhone and iPad experience will change a lot in the coming months. And this, if we limit ourselves to Europe, just one of the open battlefronts for Apple, which also sees the screws being tightened in its own house.
