“It felt like a mule kicked me in the chest.” Boxing legend has issued a warning to Jake Paul

Jones and Tyson held a showcase fight at the end of 2020. At that time, Tyson was 54 years old, however, Iron Mike had not stepped into the ring for 15 years, while the nominally last fight of 51-year-old Jones was in 2018.

Jones, in his conversation with Mosley, confirmed the age-old truism of combat sports that punching lasts the longest in a boxer’s repertoire.

“The first time he hit me in the chest, it felt like a mule kicked me in the chest. If Mike hits someone like that, that person is going to go down. Especially if his opponent isn’t used to taking shots like that,” Jones said.

Tyson was considered a very small boxer in the super heavyweight division, so he often faced taller fighters during his career. In contrast, Paul theoretically fights in the “cruiser” division, which is a category below super heavyweight.

Jones believes that Paul will not be able to properly deal with Tyson’s impressive punching power.

“For example, Evander Holyfield and Lennox Lewis were bigger, so they were able to take the hit better. I don’t think Jake Paul can take those hits. We’ll see. It’s going to be tough for Paul,” Jones said.

57 Tyson had 50 wins and six losses during his successful career. Paul, on the other hand, has so far accumulated nine victories in 10 career fights, with his only loss coming against Tyson Fury’s half-brother Tommy.
