Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Contemporary Art Center “Kim?” announces a new festival and exhibition

--

Celebrating the anniversary and considering future directions, “Kim?” expands the physical and content scope by applying and warming up the future new premises – a historic pre-renovation building and the adjoining courtyard at Hanzas Street 22, marking a festive moment not only for the center itself, but also for the Latvian and Baltic art scene as a whole.

Conceptually and content-wise, “EDENI” at the new address could be considered an airy “exhibition-performance” absorbed in the layers of history, in which artists purposefully explore (from) sound in social space and ways to achieve a sense of safe space in an uninhabitable interior with the help of comprehensively engaging art.

One of the issues when building “EDENI” is related to the fear of being expelled from it, because the temptation for the sonorous, meaningful and experiencing historical relics is to replace the visual or create its effect.

In dialogue with the authors of “Kim?” The range of themes of the 2024 festival is marked by focusing on the illusory tools of self-representation, reflections on today’s society in its various manifestations, ruling ideologies, public and private space.
