With the approach of summer, which means the onset of more favorable weather conditions for road construction, the amount of construction work in the national road network is increasing, and currently traffic restrictions due to repair work must be expected on 29 sections of national roads, VSIA “Latvijas valsts ceļi” (LVC) informs.

Most of the work is done on regional roads. The biggest traffic restrictions are on the regional road near Ventspils in the direction of Kolka (P124) and between Kangari and Tīnūži (P10). In both mentioned places, you should expect five temporary traffic light sections, which will take around 45 minutes to complete.

Due to construction works, significant traffic restrictions have also been introduced on the Ventspils-Kolka (P124) section from Ventspils to Liepene, the Inčukalns-Ropaži-Ikškile (P10) section from Kangarie to Tīnūži, the Kocēni-Limbaži-Tūja (P11) section from Umurga to Iesalkāja , on the section of the Skrunda-Aizpute (P117) highway after Kazdanga, on the Kandava-Saldus highway (P109) from Zemīte to Kapukrog, on the Ilūkste (Virsaiši)-Bebrene-Birži (P72) highway section from Mazslatie to Zasa and on the Smiltene-Valka highway (P24) in the section from Smiltene to Blome-Birzuļi-Palsmane road (V243).

On the other hand, the bridge over the Vēdzele river on the regional highway Tukums-Kuldīga (P121) is completely closed to traffic. The closed section can be bypassed by the Aizstrauši-Starpiņas (V1478) and Kandava-Saldus (P109) roads, allowing 20 minutes on the way.

LVC also warns that due to the opening event of the motorcycling season to be held in Riga on Saturday, April 27, not only in the capital, but also in the whole of Pierīga, a particularly large number of motorcyclists should be expected to participate in traffic.

When planning holiday trips, drivers are invited to take a look at the road repair map on the LVC website, where all current traffic restrictions on national roads are marked.
