The Office for the Prevention and Combating of Corruption (KNAB) submitted a criminal case to the Prosecutor’s Office for the Investigation of Criminal Offenses in the Service of State Institutions, in which it obtained evidence that the former chairman of the municipality of Rēzekne, Aleksandrs Bartaševičs, did not provide complete information on the total amount of transactions with real estate and natural persons in the declarations of public officials for 16 years. for almost 270,000 euros, KNAB chief Jēkabs Straume revealed in the “Kāpē” program of “Delfi TV”.

On the other hand, the press release states that the evidence obtained in the KNAB pre-trial investigation shows that in the period from 2007 to 2023, the former chairman of the Rēzekne City Council did not provide information about two jointly owned real estates with a relative in Bulgaria in the declarations of a public official. Also, in the declarations, this state official did not indicate transactions related to the purchase and sale of these properties for a total of 205,786.50 euros, as well as transactions in the amount of 64,000 euros with natural persons.
