A French diplomat, who wished to remain anonymous, told Reuters that France was represented by its ambassador in Russia. It is known that the representatives of Hungary and Slovakia also plan to participate in the ceremony.

The US, UK and Canada said they would not be sending anyone to the ceremony. A representative of the German Foreign Ministry also announced that Germany would not participate.

The Baltic states, which no longer have ambassadors in Moscow, have categorically refused to participate in the inauguration, reports “Reuters”. “We believe that the isolation of Russia and especially its criminal leader should be continued,” said Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis. “Participation in Putin’s inauguration is unacceptable for Lithuania. Our priority remains to support Ukraine and its people who are fighting against Russian aggression.”

“Estonia cannot legitimize diplomatic relations with an aggressor country, and we have decided not to participate in Putin’s inauguration ceremony,” Foreign Minister Margus Cahkna said on Sunday.

Latvian Foreign Minister Baiba Braže has also indicated that Latvian diplomats will not participate in the inauguration.

As a high-ranking Kremlin official said, the heads of all foreign diplomatic missions in Moscow have been invited to Putin’s inauguration, Interfax news agency reports.

The EU press representative said that in accordance with the position of the majority of the bloc’s member states, the bloc’s ambassador to Russia will not participate in the ceremony.

The so-called presidential elections, which Western countries did not recognize as democratic or fair, took place in Russia on 15-17 in March, and according to the authorities, Putin received 88% of the vote, which was the largest support for a Russian head of state in an election in the post-Soviet era. After an inauguration ceremony in Moscow on Tuesday, Putin will begin his fifth term, which is expected to last six years.
