The State Forestry Service reminds that starting from May 3, 2024, a forest fire-free period has been set for the entire territory of the country. It provides for a number of important prohibitions, the non-compliance of which may result in administrative, civil and criminal liability.
During the forest fire-free period, all residents are prohibited from staying in forests and swamps:
- drop burning or smoldering matches, cigarettes or other objects;
- light bonfires, except in specially designed places that prevent the fire from spreading outside this place;
- leave fires unattended;
- burn waste;
- drive motor vehicles through the forest and swamp off-road;
- perform any other action that may cause a fire.
Since the start of the forest fire-safe period on May 3, 6 forest fires have been extinguished, burning 17.04 hectares of forest land. A total of 23 forest fires were registered this year, with the burned area of forest land being 19.01 hectares.
The State Forestry Service is a state administrative institution that monitors forest management, compliance with the laws governing hunting and nature protection, as well as implements forest fire protection. The service maintains the State Register of Forests, where information is gathered about the forest, the economic activity taking place in it, hunting and game animals. The mission of the State Forest Service is to take care of responsible forest management and preservation for future generations.
