As Aiva Rozenberga, head of international projects of Liela Talkas, said in an interview for the TV3 program “900 seconds”, a great response is expected this year.

In preparation for the Great Cleanup, everyone is invited to use the map of contaminated sites available on the Great Cleanup website and report areas that need cleaning.

In cooperation with the company “DHL”, 300,000 garbage bags were sent to Latvian municipalities so that they would be available to every cleaner on the day of the Great Cleanup, April 27.

After the Great Cleanup, on April 27, a sing-along with Latvian choirs will take place on the Mežapark stage from 3 to 6 p.m.

The big cleanup is the largest non-governmental movement in Latvia, which is based on voluntary participation in environmental cleaning, recovery and beautification. The tradition of the big clean-up began with the clean-up on September 13, 2008, which was a gift from the population to Latvia on its 90th birthday.

During these years, approximately 500,000 participants have participated in the clean-up. In 2023, a total of 1,339 cleanup sites were applied for: 894 public waste collection and 445 cleanup cleanups, as well as 183 solo cleanups.
