As part of the holiday week, there will be a career day, the opening event of the LKA alumni association, speed dating with employers, an evening of career failure stories Fuck-Up storiesfestive rectory, poetry symposium It’s not life, it’s cinema & poetry, student conference KnowArt, conference Find yourself in the cinema with Liene Linde’s films Black velvet at the end of the sessions.

on May 13 at 13.00–20.00 LKA (Ludzas iela 24) will host a career day, offering various events for both LKA students and graduates. A panel discussion will take place at 13.00–14.30 Opportunities and challenges of young professionals in the labor market in cultural and creative industries, which will be attended by Minister of Culture Agnese Logina, communication specialist of the Latvian National Art Museum Elza ħe, music journalist, Latvian Sound Designers Club LSDC board member Aiga Leitholde, Studio Locomotive producer Dominiks Jarmaković and theater troupes Quadrifron representatives.

at 15.00–17.00 LKA students will be invited to participate in speed dating with graduates, internships and employers. at 15.00 in auditorium 5, students will have the opportunity to meet the programs Teaching staff representatives who will tell about the opportunities offered by the one-year teacher education program in such areas as languages, culture, self-expression in art and other areas. at At 17.00 LKA students and graduates will be invited to participate in the opening event of the LKA alumni association, at the end of which, at 18.30, in cooperation with Fuck-Up Riga the organizers Dita Stalovska and Luīzi Jansoni will host LKA graduates Fuck-Up stories where LKA graduates will discover their career failures and ways to overcome them.

on May 14 at 11.00-13.00 in the hall (Ludzas iela 24) the Rectorate of LKA Holidays will be held, where in the presence of colleagues and cooperation partners of the Academy, the new rector – Dāvis Sīmanis will take over the duties of the previous LKA rector Rūta Muktupāvela in a symbolic ritual.

at 17.00–20.00 a poetry symposium organized by the LKA Student Self-Government will take place in the LKA garden (Ludzas iela 24) It’s not life, it’s cinema & poetry, which will invite you to forget the monotonous everyday life and allow you to immerse yourself in the ideal world of cinema and poetry. From the red carpet to black and white lines of words, the entire spectrum of audiovisual art will be represented. The poetry readings of the LKA students will be complemented by wall paintings by the students of the Latvian Academy of Arts and melodic performances of soundtracks known in Latvia and the world!

on May 16 at LKA student conference will take place in the hall (Ludzas iela 24) from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. KnowArt, which will present the research topics that have come to the attention of LKA bachelor’s and master’s students, which have also been evaluated as the best research ideas in the final theses and have received performance scholarships for the development of theses. There will be presentations of papers in such thematic sections as Digital transformation in the cultural sector, Culture and arts management, Branding and digital content, Cinema industry and Text: creation, translation and analysis.

Within the framework of the conference at A discussion will take place at 15.30–16.30 Rap – Indecent Lines or Words of Reality?, in which rappers, journalists and researchers will be invited to discover the unique reality of Latvian rap music, the themes, sound and social significance of rap will be studied, highlighting the experiences and narratives specific to the Latvian context. The discussion will analyze the role of the rap artist as an agent of social change and discuss the possibilities of integrating rap into the academic discourse, showing its legitimacy as a cultural phenomenon.

Conference day at Free speech and poetry slams will conclude at 17.00 The living words of reality, where LKA students, graduates, LKA lecturers, as well as any other interested parties will be invited to apply.

on May 17 at 10.00–18.00 the thematic conference will take place in the large pavilion of the LKA National Film School (Elijas iela 17) Find yourself in the cinema, in which representatives of the film industry, lecturers and students of LKA audiovisual arts will focus on issues such as digitization, the problems of film preservation, the renaissance of serials, creative solutions in low-budget and no-budget filmmaking, as well as the challenges of attracting crowdfunding. LKA Institute of Culture and Arts researcher Līga Vinogradova together with Cultural Sociology and Management 1st and 3rd year students will be presented with the results of a study on cinema audience attendance and film consumption habits, which took place at the end of 2023. In the discussion Audience research: Challenges and student experiences LKA students and graduates will share experiences and challenges related to audience research methods.

At the end of the conference at Movies will be held at 16.30 Black velvet screening, after which film director Liene Linde and cameraman Dāvids Smiltiņš will meet with the viewers.

Conference KnowArt is open to diversity, contradictory, unexpected conclusions, paradoxical insights that we arrive at as a result of our scientific and artistic activity. The main thing is that the report, dance, composition, film or image appeals, stimulates the creative and research imagination and, of course, invites discussion.
