Marupians win the first football league; Kekavietes take points away from the leaders, Siguldaites score 15 goals

Several football teams from Pierīga played games full of goals during the weekend. The record holders in this regard were the players of the “Sigulda” football club, who put the ball into the opponents’ goal 15 times in the match of the Women’s First League.

In the tournament of the future, or first league of Latvia, the debutant footballers of the Mārupe Sports Center managed to stop the streak of three losses. Thanks to Dominik Norkus’ accurate shot at the beginning of the second half, Marupians beat the visiting team of FK “Tukums 2000” 1:0. On the other hand, the unit of the United Football Academy “Olaine” was unable to protect the 2:1 advantage achieved in the first half against “Valmiera FC-2” and lost 2:3 (the goals were scored by Mark Pachepko and Edgars Sajenko).

After five rounds, Mārupes SC is in ninth place in the table with four points, while AFA “Olaine” is in the penultimate 13th position with one point. The leaders with 13 points are the football players of RFS-2 and sports club “Super Nova”.

Students of JFK “Daugavpils”/Salaspils Football Academy played their first match in the new season of the Latvian third league – they beat “ASK Kadaga”/Ostas SK team 4:1 in the Central group game. Sandis Švans scored two goals for the winners, Olegs Ivanovs and Edgars Zemītis scored one each.

In the fifth round of the Women’s Football League, the football players of the Ķekava club “Auda” hosted the leaders “Riga FC Women” in their home and were leading 2:0 after the first half – Sandija Jansone and Madara Vīgante scored two goals. Unfortunately, the Čekaviets could not protect their victory – the Riga women already achieved a 2:2 result during the compensation period, but lost the first two points of the season.

There was much less intrigue in the match between “RFS Women” and FK “Olaine”. Olainietes allowed only one goal in the first half, but four in the second half – 0:5. “Auda” has five points and the fifth position in the table, while “Olaina” has three points and the sixth place in the competition of eight clubs.

In the women’s first league, the football players of Olaine and Sigulda won on the holiday weekend. Olainietes defeated Rēzekne BJSS team 4:1 on their own field – Megija Krastiņa stood out with a “hat trick”, Valērija Širin was accurate again. However, the FK “Sigulda”/Vidzeme team, making their debut at the Krimulda Stadium, ended a streak of two losses with a 15:1 defeat over the second team of the Liepāja Football School. Jane Eglite scored nine goals alone, Ance Katane, Linda Beate Pimbere and Kate Eglite scored twice each. In the three games so far, the Olani women have six points and the Sigud women have three points.
