Before the construction of the waste recovery station, the city municipality consulted with local residents and explained the benefits.

Although the residents of Toulon were initially worried about the idea that they would be forced to live next to such a station, their opinion has now changed, as the station’s management still receives a couple of complaints.

Interestingly, two schools, a hospital and residential buildings are located a few meters away. Moreover, one of the schools was built only after that.

Residents’ household waste and hazardous waste from hospitals are delivered to the waste recovery station.

On the other hand, ash, which is generated by burning waste, is used in road construction.

Sorting is mandatory for the French and no one objects to it.

Despite public concerns and objections, such a station is planned to be built in Latvia as well. However, the representative of the Center for Environmental Resources, Guntars Levits, emphasizes that neither smell nor noise can be felt near the station in France, only a slight hum.
