Two concerts are expected in the program of the “Windstream” festival during Easter: Friday, March 29, at 7:00 p.m. Riga St. A Good Friday concert will be held in St. John’s Church, and on the Second Easter, April 1st, an event for families called “Jampadracis Easter” and a concert with the brass ensemble of the “Rīga” Orchestra will be held at the “Ziemeļblāzma” Palace of Culture.
At the Good Friday concert, which will be performed on March 29, in Riga’s St. John’s Church, the center of the program is the names of two important sacred music composers. The music of this year’s jubilee, Rihards Dubras, for wind orchestra, Adagio appassionato, composed in 2012 on the order of the “American Wind Symphony Orchestra”, and the composer’s original music for the saxophone quartet “Lux aeterna”, composed in 2005 and dedicated to the Riga Saxophone Quartet, will be played.
David Maslanka’s “Concerto for Saxophone Quartet and Wind Orchestra” will be performed at the premiere in Latvia, which is globally appreciated as a musical work that reflects great emotional and spiritual intensity.
This music will be performed by the Riga Saxophone Quartet under the leadership of conductor Valdas Butān alongside the “Rīga” Orchestra.

On the second Easter, which this year coincides with the International Jokes Day, on April 1, the cultural palace “Ziemeļblāzma” offers the event program “Jampadracis in Easter”.
Interested parties of all generations are invited to attend the event. Dmitrijs Pudovs from the Riga Circus School will work with children in the interactive creative workshop at 14.00, and at 15.00 in the Great Hall in the musical center of the concert, the wind instrument or brass ensemble of the “Riga” Orchestra (in the picture) will be highlighted, which will play entertaining and cheerful music typical of this type of ensemble. . The preparation of the brass ensemble was entrusted to Kristianas Kalvas, the concertmaster of the trumpet group of the “Riga” Orchestra. Raitis Zapackis, the conductor of the concert, will intersperse the concert with tales and jokes.
