The opposition MPs point out that during his visit to Ukraine last year, Sprud announced the leadership of the drone coalition, and four months later he announced that Latvia would send the first drones. Also, the Minister of Defense promised to involve local drone manufacturers for deliveries to Ukraine.

NA notes that last week at the session of the Innovation Ecosystem Development Subcommittee of the Saeima, information was provided that Latvia has recently sent the first shipment of drones to Ukraine.

Parliamentarians are interested in how many drones have been sent to Ukraine, and what part of them were manufactured in Latvia. NA asks to clarify whether the information that Chinese-made drones purchased in Latvian stores have been delivered to Ukraine is true, as there has not yet been an agreement with Latvian businessmen on the delivery of drones to Ukraine.

Also, the opposition MPs ask in what procedure the drones sent to Ukraine were purchased, who are their suppliers and what was the procurement procedure.

NA wants to know whether the Ministry of Defense has requested licenses to work with military goods to local drone manufacturers who could apply to produce drones for Ukraine’s needs, despite the fact that drones do not have the status of military goods.
