As Indra Štāle, head of the Liepaja Civil Registry Department, said, in April, out of all 29 married couples, 17 brides and grooms officially registered their marriage for the first time.
In the church, two couples said their names. Last April there was no one getting married in the church.
Only one citizen of the Republic of Latvia married a foreigner (Russian citizen).
More deaths registered in the past month than a year ago: 126 and 97. The number of newborns is also higher: 50 and 43.
In April, in Liepāja, two names were recorded in the birth certificate for 2 boys and 6 girls: Nils Teodors, Matias Jons, Eva Loreta, Julieta Annie, Emily Marie, Grieta Evania, Adria Sindia, Heidi Keita.
The most popular names, each repeated twice: Alex for boys and Darta, Karolina for girls.
The Directorate of Citizenship and Migration Affairs (PMLP) has collected data on the ten most common names for girls and boys in Latvia in 2023.
For girls: Emily (193), Sofia (184), Amelia (173), Alice (139), Anna (134), Emma (131), Marta (110), Paula (95), Esther (85), Darta (82 ).
For boys: Oliver (163), Mark (159), Robert (129), Jacob (117), Gustav (106), Adrian (105), Emil (104), Richard (102), Theodore (98), Marcus (97 ).
