Android 15 comes with a “Notification Cooling” feature that makes your smartphone get used to the constant alerts from apps. The feature isn’t easily noticeable or accessible, but it offers Android smartphone users a much-needed respite from notifications.

Notification cooling is back in Android 15

Any smartphone, whether it’s an iPhone running iOS or Android, has notifications. They remind users about messages and alerts from apps. Needless to say, these devices are a place for businesses and services that want to connect with people. The growing “Notifications” threat can be turned off. However, smartphone users may miss important notifications.

Android 15 includes the “Notification Cooling” feature. As the name suggests, the new feature tries to tame apps that overwhelm users with a barrage of notifications. This is another feature that aims to change the behavior and appearance of the app.

The new and still experimental feature recently revealed in Android 15 Beta 1.2 has a high probability of making its way to all smartphones running Android 15. This is because Mishaal Rahman of Android Authority has stated that the notification cooling feature is available in AOSP (Android). Open Source Project) edition.

How to tame the constant alerts in Android 15?

Android 15 is already available in the second developer preview version. The notification cooling feature was quite limited in the first one. However, Google has given more power to this feature, making it even more capable.

For reasons not yet known, Google edited out the notification cooling feature in Android 15 Beta 1. However, Rahman found that it was not deleted and even revived it.

The notification cooling feature is located on the Settings > Notifications page. Interestingly, Google has added a “Vibrate when unlocked” switch to the page.

According to the description of the setting, this feature will limit the vibration of the Android smartphone in the user’s pocket when receiving multiple notifications from the same app.

Interestingly, the Vibrate When Unlocked feature is selected, unlike the Notification Cooler feature. However, using this new feature is quite simple.

Notification cooling will essentially limit haptic feedback for apps that send a lot of notifications in a short period of time. However, users who are concerned about missing important notifications or alerts can choose to leave Vibrate when unlocked turned off.“, and activate only “Apply cooldown to all notifications” or “Apply cooldown to conversations”.
