US President Joe Biden announced for the first time on Wednesday, May 8, that he will suspend some American arms shipments to Israel if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu orders a military offensive in the Gaza Strip city of Rafah. On the other hand, the former adviser of the US Department of Defense on Middle East affairs, Yasmīna El Gamal, commented to the media “Sky News” that the conflict in Gaza is like a game of “Catch the mole”.
“Es skaidri norādīju, ka, ja viņi ies iekšā Rafāhā, tas gan vēl nav noticis, bet tādā gadījumā es nepiegādāšu ieročus, kas vēsturiski ir izmantoti, lai risinātu Rafāhas problēmas,” norādīja ASV līderis.

Medijs prezidenta paziņojumu, ka viņš ir gatavs ierobežot amerikāņu ieroču piegādes Izraēlai, raksturo kā pagrieziena punktu septiņus mēnešus ilgajā konfliktā, kas sākās 7. oktobrī, grupējumam “Hamās” iebrūkot Izraēlā. Kā arī prezidenta izteikumi par amerikāņu bumbu izmantošanu civiliedzīvotāju nogalināšanā Gazā esot izteikta ASV lomas karā atzīšana.

“Mēs neatkāpjamies no Izraēlas drošības. Mēs atkāpjamies no Izraēlas spējām karot šajās [Gazas] territories,” added the leader of the great power.
Baidens arī uzsvēris, ka, lai gan ASV turpinās nodrošināt Izraēlai aizsardzības ieroču, tostarp pretgaisa aizsardzības sistēmai “Iron Dome”, citi sūtījumi tiks apturēti, ja sāksies sauszemes iebrukums Gazas dienvidu pilsētā.
