24 participants from Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, France, Moldova, Ukraine took part in the Belvedere regional selection round this year. The jury consisted of Guntars Ėirsis, Aleksandrs Antonenko and Kaspars
Adamson.
The selection rounds of the competition in Europe, Canada and the United States take place from March to the end of May this year, while the finals of the competition
will be held in Latvia, in the Dzintari concert hall from June 2 to 9.
The prestigious competition, named after the founder of the Vienna Chamber Opera, Hans Gabor, is a decisive event in the career of young singers, because by participating in the competition they win not only cash prizes, but also permanent
cooperation offers. For 42 years, the competition has been opening doors for young vocalists to the world’s most prestigious opera stages. Past participants and laureates include opera stars Elina Garanc, Angela Georgiou (Angela Gheorghiu)Marina Meshcheryakova (Marina Mescheriakova), Ildiko Raimondi (Ildikó Raimondi), Irina Samoilova (Irina Samoilova), Stanislav Švecs (Stanislav Schwez) etc
