Saulkrasti choir “Anima” releases the song and video story “Lec, sun, early in the morning!”. The song is based on the couplet of the Latvian folk song “Lec, saulīte, rīta agri, lec ar Dieva podomin’!”, performed by soloists Laura Leontjeva and Elīna Ose together with the choir “Anima”, but the original musical sound was created by the composer Kristaps Kievkalns, whose anniversary concerts this spring this song will also be heard, the representatives of the choir inform.

The song was written especially for the Saulkrasti Choir “Anima” and soloists Laura Leontjeva and Elīna Ose, who improvisationally live out the basic motif of the song from a muted prayer to the scream of the soul. The composer dressed the words of the folk song in a sonically wide musical Latvian natural landscape, which strives for light, for hope, for consolation.

The music video features actress Madara Botman, whose performance depicts a harsh and heartbreaking story of a woman about reaching the seemingly lowest point in her life, after which she chooses to get up, go, endure, pray, break free and be healed. “I was convinced of how wide the world of Madara’s feelings and talent is when filming this video in not the most favorable weather conditions, but it was exactly what was needed to experience a real outburst of emotions,” reveals the director of the video story, Laura Leontieva.

The video operator and editing director is Ritvars Bluka, with whom the choir has developed close cooperation. On the other hand, the instrumental group participated in the recording of the song together with the choir and soloists: Kristaps Krievkalns (keyboards), Kristjāns Krievkalns (electronics), Andis Klučnieks (flute), Miķelis Vīte (percussion instruments). Sound processing was done by Armands Treilihs.

“Lec, saulite, rītas agri!”, as well as the choral music cycle “Krastā saavāulnots” performed by the “Anima” choir will be performed at the anniversary concerts of the composer Kristaps Krievkalns in Cēsis, Rēzekne and Riga, according to representatives of the choir.
