In May, in the VIZIUM creative workshops of the Ventspils Science Center, anyone interested will have the opportunity to explore the connection of touch, sight, hearing and smell with the surrounding world. By acting creatively, you will feel the variety of the world’s scents, understand the propagation of sound, create an optical illusion, test the fragility of things, immersing yourself in an unforgettable sensory adventure.
In May, VIZIUM workshops take place on Saturdays and Sundays at 13.00, as well as on May 6, which is the postponed holiday. New workshop content will be offered every weekend.
There is an event house in Dvieta, which can be booked and held for absolutely anything!

• May 4, 5 and 6 at 13.00
“Sense – vision”: Workshop participants will get to know the sense that is so important to humans – vision, find out what ensures good vision, whether everything is always as it seems, perform various creative activities, for example, look into the eye of a microscope, as well as create their own optical an illusion.
• May 11 and 12 at 13.00
“Sense – Hearing”: To better understand how human hearing works and how sound travels, workshop participants will perform various musical experiments using a Makey Makey, a tuning fork and even a glass of water.
• May 18 and 19 at 13.00
“Sense – smell”: The sense of smell is like a small perfume laboratory where everyone can enjoy and understand the diversity of the world’s aromas. The participants of the workshop will learn about the riches of nature through the prism of scents, as well as create their own bath bomb.
• May 25 and 26 at 13.00
“Sense – touch”: Workshop participants will be convinced of the importance of touch, experiment and test the fragility of things, as well as create “durable bubbles” and try to determine the composition of various objects by touch alone.
Also, everyone is invited to attend the science shows, which take place from Tuesday to Sunday at 12.00 and 14.00:
• at 12.00 “No joke in the laboratory” Serious scientific experiments will be presented with a fun and exciting approach. Spectators will not only gain new knowledge, but will also get involved in interesting demonstrations themselves, becoming part of this exciting adventure! A variety of chemical and interactive experiments in a serious, non-serious atmosphere, giving both young and old the opportunity to gain an understanding of natural sciences.
• at 14.00 “Once in a summer” In the science show, we will find out how one summer day can inspire exciting science experiments! It all started on a sunny hiking day… The visitors of the science show will learn about an alternative to the compass, check the usefulness of various everyday things for hiking, which will lead to the laws of physics and chemistry. “Once in a Summer” will inspire everyone to go on a scientific hike!
In May, the VIZIUM science center will continue the “Little researchers’ workshops” for preschool children, where, playing games, frolicking and engaging in various fun activities together with attractive teachers, they will have the opportunity not only to have a great time, but also to learn new skills and knowledge, giving parents a moment of respite . Also, we would like to remind you that on May 1, 4 and 6, the science center will work after normal working hours. Mon. – Sat. 10.00 – 19.00, but Sun. 10.00 – 17.00
