Poland and Lithuania are ready to help Ukraine recover men of conscription age

With only a few exceptions, Ukrainian men between the ages of 18 and 60 have been barred from leaving the country since the beginning of the war. However, the data shows that several hundreds of thousands managed to do it for different roads.

Kyiv has decided to stop issuing new passports abroad in order for them to return. The move was roundly condemned by some, but the government believes it is the right thing to do.

All men of conscription age who decided to leave Ukraine for various reasons obtained legal status and social benefits in the respective countries for only one reason – because they are citizens of Ukraine. And it should not be forgotten when they claim that the Ukrainian state owes them something. They owe the Ukrainian state much more.

Opinions are divided among the Ukrainian population. although it is clear that reinforcements are needed, it is questioned whether this is the right way to recover the countrymen.

We need to find another way to deal with the return of people to Ukraine. By incentivizing them, they will be more inclined to come back, fight, engage in activities and contribute to the Ukrainian economy.

Meanwhile, Poland and Lithuania have announced that they are ready to help Ukraine identify and recover men of draft age who fled to them. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia, on the other hand, says that there have been talks on this issue, but an official request is awaited.

As the war has been going on for the third year, the armed forces of Ukraine are starting to lack soldiers, moreover, the soldiers on the front lines have mostly not had the opportunity to go on vacation on a rotational basis. Therefore, the Ukrainian government is forced to make unpopular decisions.
