At the festive event on May 4 in the Bauska town hall, the deputy chairman of the Bauska county council, Aivars Maceks, presented the awards. They were also received by those residents who did not come to receive the tributes awarded last year at Rundāle Palace on November 17, 2023.

Svetlana Vāverniece, the principal of Skaistkalne High School, was among the recipients of the Certificate of Honor. Having once worked as an economics teacher at Bauskas 2nd secondary school, she remembered that she recommended Astrida Stāls to run for the position of director. She applied, was hired and has been trying to improve the learning environment and organize the historic manor building for 19 years.

She can divide her future dreams into two parts. Most people dream of an asphalted road to Skaistkalnei. “For 19 years, I have been driving on the gravel road every working day,” says S. Vāverniece. On the other hand, in an educational institution, after cleaning up the surrounding environment, creating a sports base and building a new gym, the next goal is to continue restoring and renovating the school building. The floor must be restored, the foundations must be strengthened. “The second round of the project must be implemented. This means that we have to write projects again,” says S. Vāverniece.

Employees of SIA «Bauskas slimnīca» received six letters of appreciation. Margarita Epermane, manager of “Bauska Hospital”, said that she tries to apply for awards for the employees of the company on every holiday. “Each of the employees of the hospital is worthy of receiving an award. He also receives awards from the Cabinet of Ministers and the Ministry of Health. We are proud of our colleagues,” says M. Epermane.

Agita Zeltiņa, a nurse at the Bauska hospital, has spent almost her entire working life here and reached 45 years of service this year. Private life is also connected with the hospital – Uģis Zeltiņš met and married his spouse here. Both happy and sad emotions are enjoyed here. “The saddest time was when the hospital was closed. However, now everything is happening, the activity is starting to recover,” says A. Zeltiņa.

Irene Barovska is the hospital’s senior accountant, who has been working since 1981. She has experienced many and various changes. There was a lack of money and all sorts of other things. The youth is remembered as the best time, when Andris Glāzītis managed the hospital until 1995. The saddest time was, of course, the closing of the hospital, but now there is development again, positive feelings.

Letters of appreciation were also received by younger colleagues Irina Pasišniak and Anete Laugale. They admit that they no longer feel like the younger generation in the hospital, because they have gained quite a lot of experience. On the other hand, the award ceremony was evaluated as a part of the national holiday celebration, which directly creates a festive feeling.
