Reconstruction of the road sections from Vecumnieki to Iecava begins; drivers must take into account traffic restrictions – BauskasDzive.lv

Construction work has started on four sections of state highways in Bauska county, after their reconstruction the connection between Vecumnieki and Iecava will be paved with asphalt concrete. The construction work will last until the summer of 2025, the company SIA “Latvijas Valsts ceļi” (LVC) informed the portal.

The project envisages the reconstruction of the section of the regional highway Bauska–Linde (P88) from the intersection with the local highway Pārslas–Misa–Charlotes (V1011) to Vecumnieki (km 25.26–28.26). Highway P88 section from 25.33. km to 27.71. km is covered with gravel, while the 0.5 km section in Vecumnieki is paved. On the other hand, three sections of the V1011 highway, which currently have a gravel surface (km 0-6.67, km 7.84-9.74 and km 11.24-12.82), will be rebuilt.

LVC invites you to take into account that the maximum driving speed limit is 50 km/h, the width limit is 3.2 meters in all construction stages. At the start of the works, one temporary traffic light section is planned between Misa and Beibeži, as the volume of work increases, there will be more traffic restrictions and reverse movement sections.

LVC clarifies that as part of the construction works, the structural layers of the road will be rebuilt by building the draining and retaining layer, the base layer and laying the asphalt concrete surface in two layers. The service life of the reconstructed road surface will be 20 years.

As part of the works, water drainage from the road will be arranged – ditches will be dug and cleaned, culverts will be restored and rebuilt. We will also restore the structures worn out during operation for the bridge over the Misa River on the V1011 highway (9.70 km) and the bridge over Taļķi on the P88 highway (25.8 km), traffic on the bridges will be organized in one lane during the works. In Vecumnieki, the construction of a lighted sidewalk is also planned, connecting it to the existing pedestrian road infrastructure, and it will be carried out at the expense of the municipality of Bauska region.

In order to ensure the water disposal solutions provided for in the project and to improve traffic safety, 174 trees will be cut down in the road dividing strip, as well as bushes will be cut down. In accordance with the regulations of the Cabinet of Ministers “Regulations on felling trees outside the forest”, the municipal government of Bauska region has given permission to cut down trees.

The construction works in all stages will be carried out by SIA “Vianova” for the contract price of 8,283,156 euros (including VAT), of which 208,241 euros (including VAT) is financed by the municipality. Construction supervision is provided by SIA “IngWay”, the author of the project is SIA “Vertex” projects.

The mentioned sections of the P88 and V1011 highways are included in the road repair program developed by the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development (VARAM) within the framework of administrative territorial reform, and the construction works are financed from the funds of the EU Recovery Fund.
