This week, Family Day and the opening of the Garden Terrace at Jaunmoku Palace

On Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024, the third “Family Day at Jaunmoku Palace” will take place this year. Activities for the whole family will take place under the theme “Different head ornaments”. On the other hand, on May 10, the terrace of the summer garden will be opened, where guests of the palace, passers-by and other interested parties will be welcome to enjoy a meal.

Continuing to get to know the ongoing processes of the forest and its inhabitants, this Family Day will focus on animal head ornaments. From At 11:00, families will have the opportunity to be together, gain new knowledge and get excited in a small competition, playing the game “Forest Bingo”.

Horns are the head ornament of large forest animals, so at At 12:30, families will have the opportunity to go on a guided tour of the “Latvijas medību trophies exhibition” and listen to hunters’ stories about hunting and trophies, as well as about hunting as an ecologically and economically necessary activity to regulate the number of wild game populations.

at At 1:30 p.m., everyone will have the opportunity to make their own ornament or key ring from antlers in the creative workshop. Participation in the Family Day event is included in the museum entrance ticket price.

In addition to the activities of the event, museum exhibitions can be viewed: the collection of coins and banknotes “Maksā rāga”, the ornithologist and photographer Ēvas Krēsla’s exhibition “With and about birds” and the exhibition of hunting accessories “Hunting ammunition”.

In anticipation of the active tourist season, Friday, 10. in May, the new summer season garden terrace will be opened, where everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy delicious food and drinks.
