The amount of construction work and traffic restrictions on the national road network is increasing – this week, construction work is already underway on 40 sections of national roads, VSIA “Latvijas Valsts ceļi” reports.
On the Vidzeme highway (A2) from the turn to Cēsīm in Melturos (P20) to Rīdzene, construction works are starting again and traffic is regulated by traffic lights in five sections, so you should plan 45 minutes for the 11-kilometer long section.
Due to the restrictions, you should allow an extra half hour on the road when driving from Ventspils in the direction of Dundaga (P77), where there are four sections of temporary traffic lights.
Drivers are strongly urged to obey the traffic light signal and not to drive in the reverse direction at the red light. In reverse traffic sections, there is no opportunity for the transport to change and when driving at a red traffic light, the movement of all road users is further hindered, as well as the safety of road users and construction workers is endangered.
LVC states that the section of the Ventspils-Kolka (P124) road from Ventspils to Liepena has seven sections of traffic lights, the speed limits are up to 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time of the repair section is 55 minutes.
On the section of the Kocēni-Limbaži-Tūja highway (P11) from Umurga to Iesalkāja in three sections, traffic in one lane is organized with priority traffic signs. The speed limit is 70 and 50 km/h, and the estimated time to cross the repair section is 45 minutes.
On the Inčukalns-Ropaži-Ikškile (P10) section from Kangarii to Tīnūži, five sections of reverse movement have been introduced, as well as speed limits up to 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time of the repair section is 42 minutes.
On the section of the Ventspils-Dundaga highway (P77) from the intersection with the Ventspils-Kolka regional highway (P124) to the forest roads Riestu Dambis and Otrais Riest Dambis, four sections of traffic lights have been introduced, as well as speed limits up to 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time of the repair section is 35 minutes.
On the Kandava-Saldus highway (P109) from Zemīte to Kapukrog in five stages, traffic is regulated by traffic lights and a local detour has been introduced. The speed is limited to 50 km/h, therefore the estimated time of crossing the repair stage is 30-35 minutes.
The section of the Augšlīgatne-Skrīveri (P32) highway from Nītaure to Zauba has two sections of traffic lights, as well as a speed limit of 70 and 50 km/h. The estimated time for crossing the repair section is half an hour.
On the Skrunda-Aizpute (P117) section of the highway in the direction of Valtaikai after Kazdanga, three sections of traffic lights have been introduced, as well as a speed limit of up to 50 km/h. The estimated time for crossing the repair section is half an hour.
The Ilūkste (Virsaiši)-Bebrene-Birži (P72) section of the highway from Mazslatie to Zasa has three sections of traffic lights and a speed limit of 70 and 50 km/h, therefore you should plan 25 minutes for crossing the section.
The bridge over the Vēdzele River on the regional highway Tukums-Kuldīga (P121) is closed to traffic. The closed section can be bypassed by the Aizstrauši-Starpinias (V1478) and Kandava-Saldus (P109) roads, for which you should plan 20 minutes on the way.
On the section of the Smiltene-Valka (P24) highway from Smiltene to the Blome-Birzuļi-Palsmane highway (V243) in three sections, traffic is regulated by traffic lights, but the speed is limited to 70 and 50 km/h. Estimated crossing time of the repair section is 20 minutes.
