The fact that airBaltic will not be able to reasonably find financial means in the amount of 200 million euros, it was already clear a couple of years ago. It was seen that airBaltic the financial situation at the end of 2022 does not allow us to hope to attract external financing for the repayment of the bonds. The inadequate aircraft procurement program made it even worse. In between there was a lot of promise and fulfillment in the mass media, but the result is exactly what it is. AirBaltic must be saved from bankruptcy once again. A couple of notes in this regard.

In the field of investments, there is such an old and proven rule – do not send a poorly invested euro to the next one.

However, if you still do it, then you have to answer the question – what will be different this time and why the project, which is working at a loss, will start making money.

AirBaltic in this regard, the following question would arise – why should one continue to invest in a company that has gone bankrupt twice and has been saved with state budget money. The existing business model has shown its viability. The existing management of the company, starting with the shareholder in the person of the Ministry of Transport, and ending with the board, has shown its inability to ensure the financial stability of airBaltic.

What gives hope that these two hundred million will not disappear in the same place as the previous ones?

Going bankrupt once may also be a coincidence. This is not unusual and can happen to anyone. Twice – it’s a coincidence. The third time is the norm. And this is the third time for Mr. Gauss.

The Hungarians decided Malev not save And what we? So what will the government save? Mr. Gauss, airBaltic or both?

PS These two hundred million are at the expense of reducing the national debt and fiscal space, so others will have less. It will cost the people of Latvia dearly. In addition, as I mentioned earlier, Mr. Gauss with airBaltic will apparently be served without a queue.
