In Latvia, 40% of residents believe that the installation of solar panels on the roofs of apartment buildings should be encouraged, according to a survey conducted by the construction company and real estate developer SIA “Yit Latvija”.
Meanwhile, 23% of respondents admitted that there is no need to promote the installation of solar panels on the roofs of apartment buildings, while 37% did not have a clear assessment on this issue.
At the same time, 38% of respondents indicated that the biggest benefit of installing solar panels is financial savings on utility bills, 12% indicated that the benefit is the diversion of electricity to common areas, 9% emphasized the benefits of promoting a green lifestyle in the specific neighborhood, while 5% believe that the benefit is the opportunity to live in a modern and sustainable house.
On the other hand, 32% of respondents stated that they do not know anything about solar panels on the roofs of apartment buildings and do not know that they are installed in such objects at all.
The “Yit Latvija” survey was carried out in April 2024 in cooperation with the research company “Norstat Latvija”. More than 1,000 Latvian residents aged 18 to 74 participated in the survey.
