On April 19 and 20, the XVII Latvian children’s and youth theater festival “..and I’ll go and I’ll go!” was held at Valmiera Viestura secondary school. During the two days of the festival, 38 performances could be seen on three stages. Student theaters from all over Latvia participated in the festival, including from Ogre region. Our county was represented by two schools – Ikškile secondary school and Jaunogre secondary school.

Ikšikilesi offered two productions at the festival: the 12th grade schoolgirls’ artistic work “Black and white domino”, dedicated to the 90th birthday of the poet Ojārs Vācieš (consultant Zane Bēķe) and the 12th grade token evening musical show “Dāvana vyentuliai venetėi”, based on the same films of the title (director Oskars Kliava). On the other hand, the improvisation theater of Jaunogre High School showed a production of the play “Girl and Doll” by Ines Tālmanes (directed by Oskars Kļava).

The performances were evaluated by the youth jury, giving each production a special nomination, but the jury organized by the State Educational Content Center, having previously watched the video of the production, awarded the first grade to the play “Black and white domino”, the second grade to the play “Girl and a Doll”, the third grade to the play “Gift to the Lonely” for a woman”.

Next year, for the children’s and youth theater festival “..and I will go and go!” – 18! Let the school theater groups and studios of our region have a creative season full of new performances in the next academic year!

The information was prepared by the interest education of Ogre region theater field methodologist Zane Beke
