On Independence Day, the group “Jumprava” welcomes the holiday with the release of a new video for the song “Freedom Raft”, which was created in 2019.
“This song helped me get over the disappointment that in our free Latvia, not everything is going as smoothly and beautifully as we would like. And yet, blaming others does not help, because the only way to turn everything for the better is to do it yourself, to be a positive program and hope that it will inspire the others as well,” says the author of the song, Aigars Grauba.
“The middle part of the song includes the Irish folk dance tune ‘Toss the Feathers’ (trans.). This shows my love for Irish music and also respect for people who were not afraid to go to the wide world – to Ireland, England and elsewhere, to not give up and cope with life. Everyone has to put their hands together so that we can be proud of our country. If our children see that we are strong, nobody will be able to take Latvia away from them either.”
The video was made so that everyone could listen to the words of the song, look back on the group’s ambitious 2019 concert “Arena Rīga”, as well as take a look at the rehearsal process for the upcoming concert “Jumprava XL” at the Daugava Stadium, which will take place on August 31.
