The Georgian ambassador gets to know Jelgava and its educational opportunities

In order to get to know the city and discuss future cooperation, today, April 24, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Georgia to Latvia Irakli Kurashvili and his adviser Miheils Sulaberidze visited Jelgava on an official visit.

At the beginning of the visit, the ambassador met with the chairman of the Jelgava city council Andris Rāviņa. The guests were introduced to the city and its development, and future plans were discussed. Continuing the visit, the guests visited the tower of the Jelgava Holy Trinity Church, where they got to know the history of Jelgava.

In the continuation of the day, I.Kurašvili visited the Latvian University of Biosciences and Technologies, where he met with the scientific vice-rector of the university Irina Arkhipova, the head of the university’s International Cooperation Center Mārtīns Šabovići and students from Georgia Lizi Keleptrishvili, who is currently studying information technology at the university in Jelgava in the “Erasmus+” program.

At the end of the visit, the ambassador and his advisor visited the reconstructed Jelgava Technological High School, where they got to know the possibilities, vision and daily work of the educational institution. The principal of the school, Baiba Balode-Lukjanska, presented the school’s main values, operating principles and how the school, parents and municipality cooperate.
