At the beginning of this year, the municipality of Valmiera region announced an application for co-financing for the preservation and maintenance of sacred heritage in Valmiera region. The municipality received 11 project applications from religious organizations whose property or possession is a protected cultural monument of national, regional or local significance or a church of a traditional denomination located in the territory of Valmiera district. All 11 submitted projects received financial support for a total of 75,000 EUR:

• Sergejs Radonezh Orthodox congregation in Valmiera, Sirdsskydra – 7,817 EUR for maintenance expenses of the church building;

• Evangelical Lutheran parish of St. Anna of Mazsalac – 6583 EUR for replacement of windows;

• Burtnieku Evangelical Lutheran Church – 7406 EUR for the development of the construction project;

• Valmiera Sv. Sīmanis Evangelical Lutheran Church – 8,228 EUR for maintenance expenses of the church building;

• Baptist Church of Mazsalac – 4,114 EUR for replacement of rainwater gutters and drains;

• Roman Catholic parish of Valmiera – 6,583 EUR for maintenance expenses of the church building;

• Strenči Evangelical Lutheran Church – 6583 EUR for masonry of two round furnaces;

• Rubenes Evangelical Lutheran congregation – 7,406 EUR for the renovation of the altar wall and the maintenance of the church building;

• Dikļi Evangelical Lutheran parish – 8228 EUR for window restoration;

• Āvele Evangelical Lutheran parish – for plastering and painting the walls of the church tower, repair of eaves 9052 EUR;

• St. Matthew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Matīš – EUR 3,000 for the improvement of the area adjacent to the church.

A religious organization that owns or owns a protected cultural monument of national, regional or local significance or a church of traditional denominations located in the territory of Valmiera district could apply for co-financing.

The approved projects will be implemented until the end of 2024.
