The nominees for the Latvian Literature of the Year Award in seven categories – the best work of poetry, the best work of prose, the best prose translation of foreign literature into Latvian, the best translation of poetry of foreign literature into Latvian, the best work of original literature by a Latvian author for children, the brightest debut in literature and the brightest work in literary studies – were announced on the 28th. in a press conference in March.
The commission of experts has decided to award the lifetime award for significant contribution to Latvian literature to Margita Gūtman, poet, singer and translator Contra (Marguss Konnula) for popularizing Latvian literature, as well as Ronalds Briedis for managing the Literary Academy for 20 years.
LALIGABA nominees’ readings will take place on April 11 (poetry readings) and April 18 (prose text readings) at 18.30 at the art center “Noass”, everyone is welcome to visit.
The LALIGABA award ceremony will take place on April 30 at the Ågenskalns market.
Voting will take place until April 28 at 11:59 p.m.
