Young people are invited to develop ideas for the Riga participatory budget competition – Riga

Young people are invited to participate in the series of workshops “Your idea in your city!”, during which, together with experts, they will have the opportunity to develop their ideas for submission to the upcoming Riga participatory budget competition (balso.riga.lv).

The deadline for submitting ideas for the competition project (infrastructure improvement in one’s neighborhood) is May 31, and the municipality will allocate up to 100,000 euros for the implementation of one project.

In order to promote the participation of young people in the competition, the Riga Youth Center KAņIERIS, together with the Center of the Residents of Riga Neighborhoods, is organizing a special cycle of workshops for the first time this year, providing support to young people from the development of the idea to the submission of the project to the competition.

Young people between the ages of 16 and 25, individually or in teams, are invited to apply.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

• Get to know and understand what the city’s participation budget is and what are the conditions for submitting a project to it.

• Develop your project ideas together with the workshop leader.

• To receive support from the coordinators of the Riga Neighborhood Center in matters of drawing up an estimate and other practical details.

• Submit project ideas to the competition.

The cycle of workshops will consist of three stages:

• Saturday, April 6, 10.00-16.00 – familiarization with the participation budget and development of ideas (coffee break and lunch will be provided).

• Consulting workshops in the surroundings of Riga to clarify unclear details (optional: on April 17 in E. Smilģa Street or on April 24 in Sarkandaugava (together with the Kaniera team).

• Finalization and submission of the project application to the participation budget tender of the city of Riga.
