Julia, the widow of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny, who died in prison, has accused Russian dictator Vladimir Putin of lying and breaking promises on his “inauguration” day.

It has already been reported that Putin’s regular “inauguration” for the fifth term of office took place in Moscow today after the so-called presidential elections.

The 71-year-old master of the Kremlin has ruled Russia since the beginning of the millennium. He was “re-elected” for another six-year term in a mock election in March.

In a video released on Tuesday, Yulia Navalnaya emphasized that Putin’s promises are not just empty, but outright lies. The video includes excerpts from Putin’s speech at the beginning of his fourth presidential term in 2018. In it, Putin claimed that his goal was peace and prosperity in Russia in the future. For contrast, the video includes images from Russia’s bloody war in Ukraine.

Navalnaya also criticized Putin for raising the retirement age, persecuting dissidents and isolating Russia on the international stage. Guarantees of citizens’ safety have also been violated, Navalnaya said, referring to the terrorist attack in March in which more than 140 people were killed in Moscow.

Navalny, who was considered the most important opponent of Putin in Russia, died on February 16 in prison. Authorities say he died of natural causes. The politician’s family and associates insist he has been killed.
