An 80-year-old man, who was wanted by Cheshire Police for 27 years, has been arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport, writes the Independent.

The 80-year-old, wanted by police for 27 years after he failed to appear in court on “extremely serious” charges in December 1997, has been arrested at London’s Heathrow Airport.

Richard Burrows, who is accused of sexually abusing children, was arrested on March 28 after returning to the UK from Thailand.

Nearly three decades ago, the man faced trial for two misdemeanors and 11 counts of child sexual abuse that allegedly took place between 1969 and 1971. Some of the offenses reportedly took place in orphanages.

Authorities have also issued warnings to other wanted suspects – no matter how long they hide, they will be found.

“Our determination to find Burroughs has not wavered in 27 years, and his arrest is a significant step forward in this case and its closure.”
