According to WP sources, named as two anonymous officials close to the said discussions, the warning was issued on March 6 – 16 days before the terrorist attack.

WP writes that the warnings were very specific and detailed that the terrorist organization “Islamic State” was planning the attack. Thus Moscow’s claims that the US warnings were too general are disputed.

Washington regularly informs other countries about possible terrorist attacks, but it is quite unusual for it to mention specific locations.

At the same time, WP states that the Russian authorities took the warning very seriously at the beginning. One of the publication’s sources stated that the warning also included information about a possible terrorist attack in a synagogue in Moscow. The following day, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) announced that a terrorist attack planned by the “Islamic State” in a synagogue in Moscow had been prevented.

Chairman of the Russian National Security Council and Kremlin press secretary Dmitry Peskov has not commented on the publication.

It has already been reported that on March 22, armed attackers stormed the “Crocus City Hall” concert hall in Krasnogorsk, near Moscow, and killed at least 139 people. About 200 were injured.

The “Islamic State” group claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack. Western security experts believe that the Afghan branch of this organization – the “Islamic State – Khorasan Province” group – is behind the attack.
