A shocking story about a 28-year-old Dutch woman who decided to perform the euthanasia procedure has gone viral on the Internet. Zoraja ter Beek has planned an assisted suicide in May, which means she knows exactly the date and time of her impending death.

Although such a decision could be understood from the point of view of a seriously ill person, ter Bīka is physically healthy. She lives with her boyfriend and two cats and looks like a normal woman from the photos, but she suffers from severe depression, personality disorder and autism. Due to mental difficulties, Zoraya no longer wants to live.

Ter Beek has been trying to solve mental problems for years. She has visited countless procedures and specialists, but all proved futile. She made the decision about the euthanasia procedure after the doctors told her that nothing more could be done and that Zoraya’s mental health was unlikely to improve.

“Everything was pretty clear to me – if my mental health doesn’t improve, I don’t want to put up with it anymore.” media “The New York Post” quotes ter Beek. According to the Free Press, more and more people today are choosing to undergo the euthanasia procedure.

The euthanasia procedure will be performed in the Netherlands, where it has been legal since 2001. After it is done, ter Beekai wants to be cremated and an urn with her ashes placed on the sofa in her living room. The doctor will first administer a sedative and then a medicine to stop the heart beating. Her boyfriend has promised to be by the woman’s side until her death.

“Doctors don’t rush this procedure. It’s not like they come in and say, ‘Please lie down!’ Most of the time, a cup of coffee is drunk first to calm the nerves and create a calm atmosphere,” said ter Beek. “Then the doctor will ask if I’m ready. A seat will be taken on the couch and I’ll be asked again if I’m sure. When I answer in the affirmative, the procedure will begin and I’ll be wished a good journey. I’d like to be wished a good night.”

Zoray doesn’t want a funeral because she doesn’t have many relatives. “I’m a little afraid of death because it’s the absolute unknown. None of us know what happens after that. Complete emptiness? That’s the scariest thing.

In 2022, 8,720 euthanasia procedures were performed in the Netherlands, or 5% of all deaths in the country. The Netherlands was the first country in the world to legalize euthanasia for humans.
