Korean automaker Hyundai has announced that it will increase production volumes of hybrids. Hyundai thus follows the lead of other automakers as the industry faces lower-than-expected demand for electric cars. Interestingly, more hybrids are planned to be produced at the company’s factory in the US state of Georgia – a place that was intended only for electric cars.

When announcing the financial data of the 1st quarter, Hyundai indicates that there is a sharp increase in demand specifically for hybrids. Although sales of electric machines are generally good, there is a noticeable decline.

Let’s not rush to ring the alarm bells – it was in March, the last month of the 1st quarter, that a significant surge in sales was noticeable and Hyundai’s electric cars are extremely competitive. In any case, the other big South Korean car manufacturer, KIA, made a similar announcement earlier. They too are focusing on electrification, but, at least for now, more focus will be on hybrids. True, the electric car will not be forgotten either, as KIA develops a series of new, cheaper cars.
