Pilot Kuzminov, who became famous after driving a Russian army helicopter into Ukraine, was killed by six shots, according to The New York Times.
Western experts believe that in this way the Kremlin wanted to leave a message about who is behind the murder of the Russian pilot who fled to Kyiv and hijacked the helicopter. Not only was the pilot shot, but the guy’s body was run over by a car.
The killers were not going to hide who ordered the murder, thus leaving a “message”, foreign media are sure.
Kuzminov was killed on February 13 in Villajos, Spain. The Hyundai Tucson drove into the garage of the house where the pilot lived. The killers waited for Kuzminov for more than two hours – only at 16:20 Kuzminov drove his car into the garage and went to the elevator, when the killers opened fire on him.
Despite 6 bullets, Kuzminov still managed to run a few meters before falling. The killers then got into a car and ran over the body, before later burning the car near the crime scene. Investigators later determined that the car had been stolen two days before the murder.
The Spanish local press writes that Kuzminov often visited bars that were popular among immigrants from the former USSR, drove around the city in a black Mercedes S-class car.
Experts say Kuzminov’s killing has the same pattern as other murders ordered by the Kremlin, while Villajos police chief Pepe Alvarez said it is not uncommon in Spain for murders where the perpetrator fires more than one bullet at the victim.
