Jelgavniek, choose the name of the new street!

At the end of last year, the municipality invited the residents of Jelgava to offer their name options for the new street, which is being built from the 2nd line to the 3rd line. The new street is already taking shape and will need a name once the construction work is complete.

In total, residents proposed more than ten proposals for the name of the new street – Ķiparu iela, Čiekuru iela, Kārļa Skalbes iela, Bērnības iela, Alņu iela, Mazo ķiparu iela, Saulaina iela, Zītaru iela, Vāveru iela, Mītavas iela, Izaugsme iela, Izaugsme cejs, Saulstariņu street The municipality collected the submitted options and posted them on the website by May 27 Jelgava.lv citizens are invited to choose the name of the new street by voting. The variant of the street name for which Jelgav residents will have voted the most will be forwarded for approval.

It should be reminded that the project “Reconstruction of the 2nd, 3rd lines and Nameja Street section, Jelgava” involves the reconstruction of streets and the construction of a new street section. Works on all streets started last year and are ongoing in parallel.

When rebuilding the 2nd line from Dobeles Highway to Nameja Street, an asphalt concrete surface will be laid there, a sidewalk with a combined pedestrian and bicycle path, lighting, water supply and sewerage networks, a rebuilt rain drainage system, as well as communication sewerage and video surveillance will be built.

In the section of line 3 from Dobele Highway to Nameja Street, an asphalt concrete road surface will also be laid, a sidewalk with a combined pedestrian and bicycle path will be built, lighting will be rebuilt, water supply and sewerage networks will be built, a storm sewer system will be rebuilt, and a traffic light will be built at the intersection of line 3 and Dobele Highway.

On the other hand, the section of Nameja street from line 2 to line 3 will not only have an asphalt concrete surface laid, but also a parking lot, a sidewalk with a combined pedestrian and bicycle path, lighting, water supply and sewerage networks and a rainwater drainage system, as well as communications sewerage and video surveillance. .

Also, works are underway on the section of the 2nd line and the 3rd line from Nameja street to the perspective street and the construction of the perspective street in the section from the 2nd line to the 3rd line, where asphalt concrete will be laid and a parking lot and sidewalk with a combined pedestrian and bicycle path will be built, lighting will be rebuilt and rain drainage system, water supply and drainage networks have been built, as well as communication drainage and video surveillance.

All streets are planned to be rebuilt by the fall of 2025.
