The World Club Team Championship in table hockey traditionally takes place every two years. This year, 26 teams with athletes from 12 countries, including Latvia, participated in the important competition.

Each team is represented by 4 to 8 athletes. Riga honor was represented by the team of the Children and Youth Center “Laimīte”, which consisted of seven members: Sandis Kristaps Lagzdiņš, Raivis Miglinieks, Krista Annija Lagzdiņa, Emīls Liepiņš, Matīss Jakseboga, Niks Lācis and coach Edgars Caics.

The Riga team convincingly reached the semi-finals of the competition, where the world championship medals were played. In the semifinals, the Riga team (the current leaders of the World Ranking (PR)) will face the Czech team “THC Stiga Elites” (3rd place in the PR), who were convincingly defeated by 8:3.

Meanwhile, Inčukalns table hockey club (5th place PR) made a surprise in the second semi-final, which defeated the Ukrainian team “Nertus” (2nd place PR) in a fierce battle with 8:7.

In the final, the team from Inčukal continued their winning streak with a great emotional uplift and beat the athletes of BJC “Laimīte” with the result 7:5, winning gold medals in the world club team championship for the first time in the club’s history.
